Steve Wozniak: Apple should have launched large iPhone three years ago

Steve Wozniak is the man who literally built Apple while Steve Jobs built the empire. However, he has not worked for the Cupertino based company for nearly thirty years, so he is not connected to success or failure of the brand aside from being a shareholder. Wozniak of course loves the company he helped create, but he is also one of the most honest people to tap up to discuss Apple and its products.

For example, he has been scathing about some Apple products through the years, and has been a fan of Android smartphones because of their larger screens. When the iPhone 6 launched Wozniak said that he could now ditch Android in favor of iOS, and he elaborated during an interview with CNN at Capital One?s new Innovation Center in Plano, Texas.

“Apple could have had a much bigger share of the smartphone market if it had a larger-screen iPhone for the past three years,” Wozniak told CNNMoney from Capital One’s new Innovation Center in Plano, Texas. “It could have competed better with Samsung.” Apple has conceded market share to Samsung and Android in recent years, it has not necessarily harmed sales of the iPhone, which remains the single biggest selling handset. However, Wozniak could have a point and a large screen option could have let Apple control the market instead of just having the most popular device in it. “Tech is like a song,” said Wozniak.
“You can get all the details from someone else, but you’re not sure you like it until you hear it for yourself.” One of the greatest tech inventors in history was also early to the wearable games, saying that he once strapped an iPod Nano to his wrist. However, he says even though he has bought smartwatches he keeps going back to his smartwatch. Talking about the Apple Watch he said it is just a fitness tracker, a description levelled at all smartwatches. “I kept saying that I’d like to have a smartphone on my wrist, so I bought a few smartwatches when they first came out.” Wozniak said. “I got rid of them so quick. I got real negative on smartwatches.” “It’s more distinctive than all the others,” Wozniak said in reference to the Apple Watch. “And who knows? It might sell well. There are a lot of wrists out there.”
