Blackberry has announced its latest smartphone today, the Blackberry Classic, a handset we all knew was coming and what it would be. The device is based off the company’s ahem, classic designs such as the Bold and it comes with old school charm and up to date software, features, and security.
You may be eyeing this as a nice Christmas gift for yourself, but the device has run out of its initial pre-order run on Blackberry.com so if you want one you will have to wait until December 31st. If you want your Classic quicker though, there are options. For example, Amazon still has the device in stock and is shipping it before Christmas. The online retailer is selling the device unlocked in the United States for $449. As for the handset, it comes with the familiar Blackberry full QWERTY keyboard and a trackpad, like the good old days when smartphones were business tools and not tech toys. It comes with a 720 x 720 3.5-inch screen, a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon, and 8 megapixel rear camera, a 2MP front facer, and 16GB of expandable storage. It is a spiritual successor to the Bold 9900 and runs the latest BB 10.3.1 software. Both Verizon and AT&T (the two biggest carriers in the US) will offer the Blackberry Classic, but not until next year and neither network has offered pricing details yet.
